WINNING WITH RF CODE

Recently, a Midwest-based Air Force base deployed RF Code’s solution to track and manage over 1,300 assets in their medical clinic.   The Base’s current process required custodians who were responsible for manually tracking and counting a variety of assets ranging from doctors’ tablet PC’s to IV stands and everything in between.   (continued)

The Base wanted a way to automate their inventory process and had looked at a variety of solutions.  Unfortunately, most of what they found was Wi-Fi based, which meant deploying large, costly tags that typically have a short battery life. So they continued to search until they found RF Code’s asset tracking solution.   The Base chose RF Code because the solution, using Infrared (IR) Room Locators coupled with IR Tags, could track an asset down to the room in which it was located. Since there are 280 rooms within the building, this precise locationing was important to the Base.

Additionally, the Air Force Base found the Asset Management software easy to use and easy to display on a large screen flat-panel. By simply viewing the software dashboard, Base personnel could get a real-time understanding of where their assets were located.   Also, with a simple click of a button they could run reports quickly to better understand where the asset has been; the warranty information about each asst; and other key information about their asset inventory.

After a successful asset management deployment, they are now starting to test RF Code’s wire-free environmental monitoring capabilities, so that they can better understand the environments in which those assets operate in.   The wire-free environmental sensors are treated just like another tag, so no additional infrastructure is required.  Customers simply peel and stick sensors in the location they want to monitor for temperature, humidity, the presence of conductive liquids and more.

The total cost for the tags, IR locators, readers, software and installation was less than $100,000.
