RF Code Announces Latest Versions of its Asset Management and Environmental Monitoring Solutions
Security and Open Approach Dominate Enhancements
AUSTIN, Texas (September 30, 2009) -- RF Code, Inc, provider of “wire-free” adaptive asset management solutions that cut operating and capital expenses, announced it has added several new features to the latest version of its real time asset management and monitoring solutions. Chief among these are fine-grained access control and data segmentation for heightened data security; and support for Sun’s Java Management Extensions (JMX) monitoring interface.
Today’s announcement extends the security and the open architecture of RF Code’s Asset Manager and Sensor Manager solutions. Both are based on RF Code’s award winning active RFID technology and customer-centric software. These solutions fully automate asset management and environmental monitoring, allowing organizations to move from counting assets to managing them, in real time. The result is better asset decision-making for organizations.
The news was announced during the 2009 IAITAM Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Florida, where RF Code is exhibiting in Booth #8. Chad Riseling, RF Code vice president, Worldwide Sales, will be speaking on “Adaptive Asset Awareness: Who, What, Where and When of Physical Asset Management.” His session is on Thursday, October 1.
RF Code also announced a number of solutions enhancements that make it even easier to view and manage all asset-related alerts.
According to a recent commentary by analyst firm Ptak, Noel & Associates, "Asset management will continue to rise in importance.” RF Code is making it easier to identify and capitalize on asset management rapid ROI opportunities."
New Feature Highlights
Chief among the new features announced today are:
- Access control for heightened data security. Organizations can now segment data views/use (dashboard functions, asset view, map view, reports, graphs, alerts and more) according to an individual user’s organizational role and function. The result is tighter, more secure asset management processes. For outsourcers looking to provide a secure way to offer asset management and tracking as a service, data segmentation enables them to maintain “firewall” like separation between their different customers’ asset inventories they’re managing using RF Code. For large enterprise customers, the fine-grained access control capability allows separation and security for internal organizations as well.
- Sun JMX support for a highly open approach to environmental monitoring. Sensor Manager can now be easily configured to publish, via the JMX standard, any sensor information it captures to any JMX-enabled monitoring, including HP OpenView and Computer Associates Unicenter. Such data includes real time information about heat, temperature, humidity, fluid detection, door position and more. Since JMX is a leading open standard, this means large organizations can now easily use information from RF Code’s wire-free environmental monitoring solution with their enterprise systems management applications.
- A number of alert system enhancements, including the ability to graphically display maximum alert severity for any asset.
“Organizations continue to look for inventive, effective ways to extend the capability of their infrastructure,” said Chris Gaskins, RF Code vice president, Product Development. “Adding vital features, such as greater security and support for open standards are examples of how we continue to build solutions with value, cost and capability in mind.”
Customers using Asset Manager and Sensor Manager include large organizations in healthcare, education, technology and government who are looking to manage their critical distributed and data center assets.
